Quail

A few months age, Tyson decided that it would be really good if we had some quail, so I stupidly agreed and the next thing I know we have 3 females & 1 male. Humm, now I'm not so sure. For starters, they are flighty things and lay anywhere and everywhere, luckly we were able to put them in the old rabbit cage otherwise I'm sure the cat would have had them for breakfast long ago.
And they produce really tiny eggs - good for scotch eggs and when you are having a joke with someone over a bacon & egg breakfast, but I am at a loss what to really do with them. And I dont understand why city people would pay $4.50 for 6 quail eggs (but then again I dont watch masterchef LOL).
They are also terrible mothers - the ultimate non-broody bird, so to hatch them I'm sure you would have to have an incubator and do it yourself. And dont even get me started on roasting them, seriously the amount of time it would take to pluck and dress them for the bitesize bit of dinner you would get out of them wouldnt be worth it.
But Tyson luvves his quail, so yes we will continue the sage....................... now a turkey would be a great bird to have, humm yes I can see us getting into this side of things shortly, whether Tyson agrees of not.
